FDA Warning!
The Staff and Management of Guam Bakery would like to apologize to our customers! After a thorough investigation we have found that an individual is distributing by email an old FDA (Food & Drug Administration) inspection report, that can be found on the internet; the report is no longer searchable on the FDA website. It was our intention not to respond to these emailings as it was obvious it was from someone intent on doing our company harm. However because of a growing concern from our customer base we have chosen to respond in this manner.
This report was posted on the internet by the FDA as part of the Freedom of Information Act. The report is dated 17 September 2003; and in the report the bakery has a number of deficiencies. The bakery is regularly inspected by the FDA because the bakery participates in interstate commerce. A response letter was sent out to the FDA after correcting the discrepancies promptly informing them that corrections had been made since their findings and this letter was dated 12 October 2003.
We have informed our retail customers as well as our wholesale customers that this letter is circulating. We would also like to inform the general public that as of the beginning of this year we along with several of our customers have been working to initiate the HAACP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point) program into our bakery. We are also working with the AIB (American Institute of Baking) on getting our bakery in line with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) program.
We realize that these are lot of acronyms and industry standards and may not mean very much to everyone. However, it all boils down to one thing; Guam Bakery's commitment! Our commitment to the community and its people and our commitment to our mission statment:
Mission Statement:
Our mission statement adopted in the fall of 1984 is to provide quality Philippine & other Asian, American & European Breads, Rolls, & Pastries; to the community using proven old world techniques incorporating newer innovative ideas and techniques, and always adapting to changing technologies in the baking industry using the best quality ingredients and most qualified individuals available and employing Good Manufacturing Practice!
